Pinky's last day

"For death begins with life's first breath and life begins at touch of death" ---John Oxenham

Our first furry family member died today.  Pinky our gerbil was very much loved in our home for her three years of life.  She will be dearly missed.  She did not die alone, but surrounded by ones that loved her.

It was an honor to have you in our family.

The girls were able to say their goodbye's

"I wish you could live forever"

"I love you Pinky"

"I will miss you"

GOODBYE  Rest in Peace Pinky

Well some goodbye's are really hard to do!

Some of us have a harder time letting go.

Okay, one more kiss goodbye.

"Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim."
(Vicki Harrison)

“Give sorrow words. The grief that does not speak whispers the o'er-fraught heart, and bids it break.”
(William Shakespeare)

Pinky

My children experienced death today.  As a mother it is so hard to see their hearts breaking, but at the same time, I encouraged them to lean into the pain of their loss. You are only able to release pain when you allow yourself to feel it first  Heartache is a tricky thing.  If you run from it, it will engulf you like flames.  The only way to get throught it is to walk right into it.
